Max Jones, son of former Winnipeg Jets draft pick Brad Jones, brings tenacity to the ice, and is known as an every shift player. Strong and quick on the puck, he is known for taking the puck to the net and "willing it in." Jones does, however, have a recent red flag to his name. He was suspended for 12 gmes following a blind side demolition of Justin Brack. The hit, which saw Jones raise his shoulder into Brack’s chin, most definitely warranted the suspension.
Ontario Hockey League commissioner David Branch commented that it was deliberate, as it saw Jones drive his shoulder directly into Brack. Not the kind of play you want to see a prospect make. Anyone who wanted to watch can view the video here.
How does he fit in Columbus?
A gritty player who drives to the net, takes questionable penalties, and scores goals by willing the puck into the net? Sounds like the perfect player for the type of hockey we play here.
In all seriousness, Jones is likely to be picked just outside the top ten, so there’s likely no way he is ever dressed in the Union Blue. But the league never seems to lack for gritty forwards who can generate goals out of nothing, so Jones will likely make whichever team he lands on fairly happy.
