Game Preview #53 - Pound of Flesh

New, comments

The Canucks fans remember John Tortorella. Not fondly, I'm guessing.

Blue Jackets at Canucks - 10:00 PM
Game Faceoff

Just look at the lead-in from our friends over at Nucks Misconduct:

Oh boy, is this gonna be fun. The Canucks, after what seems like a month off finally get back into action as they attempt to salvage their season, and they'll kick it off against Crabby McScreamyface aka 1 and done ex-coach John Tortorella.

I mean. Tell me the building isn't going to be loud tonight. Torts might feel it in his ribs.

It's clear that the hiring of Torts in Vancouver was destined never to work out. It's a veteran-laden team, and Torts is more successful working from the ground up with young teams. There probably is some truth to the fact that he's "mellowed out"

with the year off. Even still, expect the Nucks' faithful to get their pound of flesh.

For the Jackets, no major (apparent) roster moves at the outset, outside of Justin Falk taking a seat and Cody Goloubef drawing in (which should prompt cheers from many of you).

The crazy thing from Tuesday night is that the Jackets out-shot and out-Corsi'd the Oil at EV over the course of the game... which they lost 5-1. If you look at the shot event chart for just the second period, the Jackets murdered Edmonton on the stat sheet... and gave up four unanswered goals. In other words, I don't know what to make of that game.

It would be nice to see the results on paper borne out on the ice tonight, if that's a repeatable stat line.
