Despite rumors that the pending RFA was on the block, a lot of Blue Jackets fans were hoping to see Cam Atkinson stay in Columbus, and it seems that after looking at the potential return, the organization agreed.
Aaron Portzline reported the team was re-opening talks with Atkinson's agent earlier this afternoon, and now broke the news that the two sides have come to a deal.
It's a pleasant surprise, and good for Cam. Hopefully this is a sign the team will scratch this season off as an injury ridden hell, and reinforce the solid core from last year's playoff team to create a true contender going forwards.
Meanwhile, even though the clock has struck 3pm, there's still likely to be more deals rolling in, so don't count Columbus out on anything until the organization formally holds their "wrap up" press conference. We'll be here to let you know if anything else changes.
