Game Thread: Game 2 (X) - Capitals vs. Jackets

After the interesting times of last night's split squad games, things are a bit more conventional tonight as the Capitals roll into town. (Well, except for the fact that 3/4 of the Capitals squad you'd know on sight didn't make the trip. But, hey, Chimmer is back!) For Columbus, tonight will be the preseason debut for Jeff Carter, Rick Nash, Steve Mason, and Fedor Tyutin, while the rest of the squad is a fairly even mix of guys who played in Winnipeg last night and those who stayed home.

The Capitals started their preseason last night with a 3-0 loss to Nashville, so don't be surprised if they come out of the gate looking for some payback.

The game will be on Bluejackets.com or 1460 AM for those unable to attend the game, and we'll try to get updates in as we can.

Here's my best guess at lines based on the rosters released by the Jackets this afternoon:

Columbus Blue Jackets:

Rick Nash - Jeff Carter - Cam Atkinson

R.J. Umberger - Derick Brassard - Maksim Mayorov

Alexandre Giroux - Nick Drazenovic - Jared Boll

Petr Straka - Adam Payerl - Andrew Joudrey

Fedor Tyutin - Nick Holden

Marc Methot - David Savard

Theo Ruth - Brent Regner

Steve Mason

Paul Dainton

Washington Capitals:

Jason Chimera - Keith Aucoin - Joel Ward

Jeff Halpern - Matt Hendricks - Joel Rechlicz

Chris Bourque - Christian Hanson - Jacob Micflikier

Jay Beagle - Mathieu Perreault - Ryan Potulny

Dennis Wideman - Roman Hamrlik

Patric McNeill - John Carlson

Dmitry Orlov - Julien Brouillette

Braden Holtby

Philipp Grubauer

The Capitals also listed a few extra bodies who could be activated or scratched depending on the whims of coach Boudreau: Mattias Sjogren, Jeff Schultz, & Andrew Carroll.

The puck drops at 7pm. Hope to see you down at Nationwide, but if not, go check out the guys at Japer's Rink to see what they're up to as well.
