Some news has sprinkled in since the preview went up this morning-Derick Brassard is good to go and he'll be on a line with Matt Calvert and Derek MacKenzie. This line has a chance to sneak a goal or two, with the Stars top checkers focusing on Nash/Carter/Prospal and Umberger/Vermette/Giroux.
It looks like Ryan Johansen will be a healthy scratch again tonight- the tough, grinding nature of the Stars forwards likely led to the decision by the Columbus coaching staff. They don't want their prized playmaking center getting beat on. That said, he needs to learn the rigors of the NHL if he's going to be an impact player.
This is a statement game from Steve Mason. This is a winnable game for the Jackets, and Mason needs to lead the way.
A powerplay goal would be nice, too.
Who will be the first to score their first goal of the season, Umberger or Vermette?
