A minor league deal trickling in- prospect Tom Sestito was moved to the Flyers organization for former CBJ farmhand Greg Moore and 2010 third round pick Michael Chaput.
The organization must have concluded that Sestito wasn`t in the team`s long term plans, and decided to add to the Springfield roster and prospect pool.

If in fact the team thought Sestito wasn’t a part of the future, getting a prospect with potential in Chaput could be a good move for the Jackets. Chaput is currently second in team scoring for the QMJHL’s Lewiston MAINEiacs, and is touted as being a two-way forward with offensive pop.
Moore is familiar to the organization from his time with the Syracuse Crunch. He is a warm body to replace Sestito in Springfield. He has put up 20 points in 57 games with Adirondack of the AHL.
This is all about long-term. Chaput seems like a very solid prospect, and while Sestito was a fan favorite, it would have been tough for him to really find a roster spot in Columbus. Look at the impact that Calvert is having. When the pipeline has forwards such as Tomas Kubalik, Nikita Filatov, Tomas Kana, and Maksim Mayorov, it would be hard for Sestito to hold down a roster spot with the Jackets. Chabut adds another center to an organization that doesn’t have much future depth beyond Ryan Johansen.
When I first saw this deal, I literally screamed: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! After giving it some thought, the deal makes sense on a couple of levels. First, I’ll admit I labeled Sestito “untouchable” in my weekend post. Realistically, the big guy doesn’t fit with the up-tempo game that Howson and Arniel want out of the Jackets. On the flip side, two for one is pretty fair, especially when a kid with Chaput’s potential is in the mix. The addition of Moore will stabilize the Falcons as they embark on their stretch run. I’ll miss Sestito’s brand of play, but this is a case of “you have to give to get”.
This is a deal that came together very late, and surprised just about everyone when it broke. Sestito is a guy who brings great energy and a lot of grit, but there are a lot of guys in Columbus’ system who do similar things, and I think that if we’re being honest, Tom was not going to get a good shot at the NHL while Derek Dorsett and Jared Boll are here.
Greg Moore is a bit of a spare part, even though he has been part of the organization in the past, replacing Dane Byers, but Chaput looks like something really special – by Howson’s own admission, he’s a player they had targeted last summer before the Flyers grabbed him at the draft, and this gave the Jackets a chance to get him in and really do a good job of establishing depth down the middle, which the team had previously lacked.
I will miss Tom Sestito, but I am looking forward to seeing what Michael Chaput will do in the next few years.
