2011 NHL Trade Deadline +1: Jackets Acquire Petr Kalus from Minny for Futures

I’m not sure of the details behind this move, or why it was possible after the deadline, but it seems like a move to give Springfield some scoring. They lost Dane Byers and Tom Sestito yesterday, but gained Greg Moore and now Petr Kalus.

Here’s the press release:

BLUE JACKETS ACQUIRE FORWARD PETR KALUS FROM MINNESOTA WILD IN EXCHANGE FOR FUTURE CONSIDERATIONS

Kalus assigned to Springfield Falcons, Columbus’ American Hockey League affiliate

COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets have acquired right wing Petr Kalus from the Minnesota Wild in exchange for future considerations, Blue Jackets Executive Vice President and General Manager Scott Howson announced today. Kalus has been assigned to the American Hockey League’s Springfield Falcons.

Kalus, 23, has appeared in 11 career NHL games and has registered four goals and one assist for five points and six penalty minutes with Boston and Minnesota. The Ostrava, Czech Republic native has registered 39-40-79 and 312 penalty minutes in 203 career AHL games, including 6-2-8 and 68 penalty minutes in 34 games with the Houston Aeros this season. He was Boston’s second pick, 39th overall, in the 2005 Entry Draft.

Live coverage on FOX Sports Ohio HD begins with the Blue Jackets Live pre-game show starting at 9:30 p.m. The game will also be broadcast live on the Wheeling Island Hotel & Casino Blue Jackets Radio Network – including flagship station CD101.1 at 102.5 FM – and online at BlueJackets.com.
