Like clockwork, Scott Howson gets his first round pick to sign on the dotted line before training camp. According to the Dispatch, Johansen's deal is for $900,000 base salary, and up to $1.975 million with incentives - very similar to the entry level signed by Nikita Filatov, in fact. So, what does this mean? Really, not that much. Johansen is still more likely than not to be sent back to Portland to play out this season in Juniors, but if the team decides to give him a taste of pre-season action or for some reason if they need to make an emergency call-up, he'll be available. Johansen will be with the group playing in the Traverse City tournament later this week, and the CBJ on-ice training camp will open next Saturday, the 18th.
