Injuries and Stars Game Notes

We'll be icing another depleted lineup tonight against the Stars. Jiri Novotny is out with a concussion, Manny is out with a sore knee, and Freddy Modin remains out of the lineup with back spasms. Some good news on the injury front is that Pascal Leclaire is returning to the lineup tonight.

As for the game, it should be a good one, even though we're not playing with all hands on deck. Joakim Lindstrom was called up from Syracuse, and he will add a dose of offense to the lineup. He'll be playing RW with Kris Beech (pictured) as his center and Shelley on the left wing. Beech had a very strong game against the Flames on Saturday, and should be able to get the puck to Lindstrom effectively.

Fritsche is getting another shot at center, anchoring the third line with Chimmer and Boll. This line should brings tons of speed and energy, and think Danny could be in line for an offensive breakout. The Stars aren't a particularly fast team, so he and Chimmer can use their speed to create chances. Boll can work his magic, drawing penalties and keeping Dallas honest.

The hero from Saturday night, Curtis Glencross, will line up with Fedorov and Gilbert Brule. Brule is being given a chance to play top six minutes, and he needs to take advantage. With only one goal so far this season, it's an understatement to say that he isn't playing to expectations. I think a goal tonight from him could be the start of a rebound for Gilbert.

The top line remains the same, Nash-Peca-Zherdev. Nasher hasn't scored in four games, and with a guy with his skills playing at home, i can see that streak ending tonight.

As for the Stars, guys like Brendan Morrow, Mike Ribeiro, Anti Miettinen and Mike Modano are all dangerous offensively. We'll need our bottom six to keep these guys in check. The Stars are also a very good team when it come to the shootout, boasting 2006-2007 shootout champ Jussi Jokinen.

The Jackets will need to play a tight physical game and will need to force and take advantage of turnovers. An early lead followed by some tough defense will give the Jackets the win.
