The Syracuse Crunch completed a weekend sweep in Springfield on Saturday night. After getting the series jump with a dominant 5-2 Friday night win, the nucleus of last year's Calder Cup champions came right back with a 5-3 victory over the Falcons.

Falcons Tame Sound Tigers

A typical AHL game runs somewhere around two hours and ten minutes. Friday night at The Nest in Springfield, the Falcons and Bridgeport Sound Tigers combined for 242 penalty minutes, seven goals and a 2 hour and 48 minute marathon.

The Springfield Falcons' first period of 2013 featured a four pack of goals. Tallies by Michael Chaput, Jonathan Audy-Marchessault, Ryan Russell and Ryan Craig built a 4-2 lead as the Falcons beat Bridgeport 5-4 on Friday night in Springfield.

Riding high on 79 saves by Curtis McElhinney, the Springfield Falcons swept their weekend set in St. John's, Newfoundland. Cam Atkinson, Ryan Johansen and Jonathan Audy-Marchessault all contributed in the 5-3 and 4-2 wins.

The Springfield Falcons came back down to earth on Saturday night, tasting defeat for the first time this season 3 - 1 at the hands of the Providence Bruins.

Falcons Game 3: Birds Win, Now 3 - 0

Cam Atkinson went to one knee to blast home the game winner as the Falcons extended their record to 3-0-0 to start the new season. JAM took advantage of a Wilkes-Barre/Scranton turnover and dished the puck to Cam, who made no mistake.
