Bizarro Game Day Matchup 30: Video Blue Jackets vs. Video Canucks

Bizarro Game Day Matchup 30: Video Blue Jackets vs. Video Canucks

The Video Blue Jackets were back in action with the return of Video Steve Mason. Contrary to real life, the Video Jackets are the hottest team in any league anywhere in the universe, repeatedly abusing their opponents. 26 Video goals in their last four games, and this one was no different.

It was technically still close at the second intermission. And then the Video Captain took over. And I mean, he took over. If only...

The Video Canucks were game, but couldn't stop the onslaught. As always, video after the jump followed by some game notes. Enjoy!

Bizarro Game Day Matchup 29: Video Blue Jackets vs. Video Bruins

Bizarro Game Day Matchup 29: Video Blue Jackets vs. Video Bruins

The Video Blue Jackets had a lot on their plates today: in addition to trying to pick up the pieces after their real-life counterparts choked away a 3-1 lead with 90 seconds to go on Thursday night, they also had to avenge their only video loss which came in OT to the Video Bruins.

The first period got off to a slow start, and much like the real Jackets their doppelgangers were not immune to the crazy last second goal in the first period. However, they clinically built a four-goal lead, and never really looked back.

Given time constraints, I simply changed the Jackets' lines to match Thursday night's, and left the Bruins' lines the same (hence, Tuukka Rask getting the start again).

As always, video after the jump followed by some game notes. Enjoy!

Bizarro Game Day Matchup 28: Video Predators at Video Blue Jackets

Bizarro Game Day Matchup 28: Video Blue Jackets vs. Video Predators

The Video Blue Jackets have been offensively firing on all cylinders. They came into this tilt with the Video Predators having scored 14 goals in their last two fake games.

I was running a bit behind this morning, so I didn't take the time to do a complete overhaul of the Fake Preds' lineups. I made some cursory changes to the Fake Jackets' lineup, but not much. Without Video Juice, I went back to the old lineups of 22-7-61 / 18-17-19 up front, which means I didn't take the time to do the overhaul that Scott Arniel appears to have done. Hope that's OK with all of you...

Columbus scored early, and despite a pretty grinding second period, never really had to sweat this one. As always, video after the jump followed by some game notes. Enjoy!

Bizarro Game Day Matchup 27: Video Blue Jackets at Video Canadiens

Today's Bizarro Matchup: Video Blue Jackets at Video Canadiens

The Video Blue Jackets didn't get the chance to enjoy the R&R that their real life counterparts did, but after a seven-goal onslaught against the Video Oil, they came into Fake Montreal on a bit of a roll. The new-look lineup did nothing to derail the train, either.

Centering the second line, Video Ryan Johansen was a beast, and the Jackets outworked the Video Canadiens en route to another beat-down. The Fake Jackets were tremendous in crashing the net, and while special teams did make a big appearance in this game for both sides, I give the edge to Columbus at the end.

Overall, it was nice to have Video Juice back, too, even though for some reason the game has him as #22 and Video Vinny as #20. Confusing, yes, but a nice problem to have!

As always, video after the jump followed by some game notes. Enjoy!

Bizarro Game Day Matchup 26: Video Blue Jackets at Video Oilers

Bizarro Game Day Matchup 26: Video Blue Jackets at Video Oilers

The Video Blue Jackets didn't get much sleep last night, what with the real Blue Jackets' crazy win in Calgary. However, they had no time to complain, and were right back in action again today, ending the Western Canada swing of their Fake Road Trip. It was cautious early, with neither team getting much going in the opening period.

I took concerted steps to be more sound defensively, and to play the man instead of always going for the kill shot. It worked, for the most part.

I can honestly say that the 25-30 video minutes spanning the second period and first portion of the third were some of the most clinical video hockey minutes I've ever played in recent memory. The Video Jackets were relentless. The Video Oilers could do nothing.

Then, something bad happened. I went up a skater, and the computer got jerky. It decided that two sloppy-ass shorties needed to be scored.

I got mad. Video after the jump followed by some game notes. Enjoy!

Bizarro Game Day Matchup #25: Video Blue Jackets at Video Flames

Bizarro Game Day Matchup: Video Blue Jackets vs. Video Flames

The Video Blue Jackets were back in action today, continuing their Fake Road Trip in Western Canada. I wish I could be proud of this effort, but while it was a win, I simply can't ignore the fact that I took my foot off the pedal.

With some help from some fishy AI.

Yeah, I'm making excuses. It felt like what Bill Simmons used to call the "No [Bleep]ing Way" game, in which your computer's AI decides that there's just no [bleep]ing way you're winning this game. I won't spoil it. Wait until you see how this game unfolds. It sincerely highlights the importance of special teams. Wow.

The important thing is we got the W. March on. Video after the jump followed by some game notes. Enjoy!

Bizarro Game Day Matchup #24: Video Jackets at Video Canucks

Bizarro Game Day Matchup #24: Video Blue Jackets at Video Canucks

The Video Blue Jackets took Sunday night off (couldn't be helped... travel SNAFU), so they missed out on getting some revenge on their former coach and defenseman. However, they piled into their plane ("We'll take the Spruce Moose! Hop in!") and headed west to take on the reigning Western Conference champs. With the only blemish on their video record being a loss to the Eastern Conference--and Cup--champs, this one had the makings of another defeat.

Especially early, when a check-happy defense got burned.

It got a bit white-knuckly late (there is some semblance of art-imitating-life with the way the last minute of the third period began), but the Jackets wouldn't go quietly. How'd they fare?

Video after the jump followed by some game notes. Enjoy!

Game 22 Bizarro Matchup: Video Sabres at Video Blue Jackets

Bizarro Matchup: Video Blue Jackets vs. Video Sabres

The Video Blue Jackets had a chance to devour some turkey on Thursday night, and other than Fedor Tyutin all looked a little heavy and sluggish as this tilt started. Perhaps it was the tryptophan hangover?

At any rate, Toots got the game started off right, though I wish I could take some credit for it. Beyond that, this one was a struggle for both fake teams. Thankfully, the home team was able to get some offense going when it mattered.

Video after the jump followed by some game notes. Enjoy!
