2014 NHL Draft: Jackets Select Blake Siebenaler 77th Overall

Jeff Zelevansky

Another defenseman - Niagara's Blake Siebenaler.

With the 77th overall pick, the Jackets went to the OHL's Niagara IceDogs to draft offensive defenseman Blake Siebenaler.

Siebenaler was a teammate of Sonny Milano on the 2011/2012 Cleveland barons U-16 team.

Scouting Report and Stats:

Siebenaler is an offensive minded defender who makes excellent reads in the offensive zone and dishes crisp passes. He skates beautifully with the puck and controls the point well on the powerplay. He is learning to be more consistent in his defensive game. - Elite Prospects

The Jackets did well to add two very good defense prospects who play differing styles. Collins is the shutdown guy, whereas Siebenaler is the puck mover. He'll be even better next year- look for his numbers to take a jump.
