Jenner Out "For A While", MacKenzie out Sunday?

Kirk Irwin

After last night's big win, the injury news from practice is a lot less pleasant.

The Blue Jackets practiced today after their 5-2 win over Toronto, but it looks like they won't be able to keep the lineup together for Sunday against the Ducks.

The Dispatch's Shawn Mitchell tweeted from Practice that Boone Jenner is out with a leg injury, and from the sounds of it he'll miss several games.

In addition, veteran checker Derek MacKenzie is also nursing a lower body injury which he suffered in the third period last night. It sounds like Ryan Craig will draw in to replace Jenner, and I wouldn't be shocked if we see Jack Skille called up from the Falcons to provide another experienced hand for the 4th line and PK. Update: Scratch that. The Jackets have called up Michael Chaput from Springfield. If he does indeed play on Sunday it will be his first NHL game after spending his first pro season down on the farm with the Falcons.

Hopefully Jenner's injury is a relatively minor one, and not a high ankle sprain or ligament injury that could cost him the balance of the season. I expect that if that's the case, we'll see him moved over to the IR when Matt Calvert is ready to step back in.
