When the season begins, if their is a season, I know exactly who I will be watching, the new guys! Of course we all will be now that there is no annointed superstar taking the ice for us. See ya later Rick Nash, maybe trading him will be the best thing that ever happened to us, maybe adding Anisimov and Dubinsky will be great. They will have the chance to grab huge roles on the team and help us sprint into the future.
I am not saying we are a contender or will be really soon, but I am looking forward to watching these two play in Columbus. Perhaps they will band together because they came together and form two thirds of a new line to lead our team in scoring? I really like the way both of them play. They are different players, but that is a good them. Anisimov brings the foreign swagger, shot, and fluidity to the ice we could really use. Dubinsky is a no-nonsense player who will start and finish a scrap while back checking every time we lose the puck, we all know Steve Mason needs as much help as possible these days.
My latest thoughts about these two new guys are what lines they will/might be on? Who will they play with, if they stay together? I can easily see why they will be on different lines because on paper they are both centers, but it seems like guys swap positions so quickly these days, anything is possible. Then again having these two man the pivot on the top 2 lines isn't going to compete for the NHL's best duo, but it sure will be stronger than last season. This will also give us 40 minutes a game where the new guys are on the ice separately so we can watch and dissect their games. Right now I am between getting my husband and I custom NHL jerseys or perhaps one us can wear the Brandon Dubinksy #17 and the other can dawn the Artem Anisimov #42? Only question is, which will I pick?
