Maksim Mayorov got the Birds on the board first, scoring his 10th goal of the season on the power play at 10:07. Like we've seen so many times this season, Martin St. Pierre was instrumental to this goal with his puck moving skills. David Savard sent a blue line feed to MSP, who then held the disc, moving along the blueline into the high slot where he sent a shot toward the Bruins goal. Mayorov was in the right place at the right time for the redirect and the Falcons lead.
After a scrum where both Alexandre Giroux and Savard were sent to the box for roughing, while the Bruins only saw Maxime Sauve sent off for goalie interference, the Baby B's capitalized on the ensuing power play. Kirk MacDonald registered his tenth of the season to knot the game at 1-1.
The second period was the Nick Drazenovic show. Drazzy lit the lamp twice in the stanza, first right off the bat at 37 seconds, assisted by Brent Regner and Dane Byers. His goal at 13:17 was a beauty. Cycling the puck along the half wall, a deep pass into Matt Calvert who then fed Dane Byers behind the goal line. In the meantime, Drazenovic found open ice in the slot and went to one knee with the one timer, giving the Falcons an insurance marker at 3-1.
Legace played like the Manny of old throughout this one. He was called upon often in the third period, as the Bruins outshot the Falcons 10-2.
1 - Nick Drazenovic
2 - Dane Byers
3 - Manny Legace
The Falcons look to pick up another valuable two points at 3PM this afternoon when they travel to Worcester to take on the Sharks.
