Saw this tweet regarding Nash...
This is from Renaud P. Lavoie:
"renhockey Renaud P Lavoie 2 NHL sources told me that #bluejackets Rick Nash is on the market. Nash have a no-movement clause and will controle his destiny."
True? Rumor? Wishful thinking? The author of the tweet sounds Canadian--I wonder if this is more hoping out of the Toronto market.
Thoughts? Personally, I don't believe that Nash is looking to go. At the same time, I know he wants to win (otherwise why play?)...so he may be feeling like it's not going to happen in Columbus. Interesting.

Bob MacKenzie says that nothing has suggested Nash is on the market. I trust him more than anyone out there, so i will go by that for now.
IF Nash gets traded, i am sure it wont be until offseason. And we better get a top 8 pick
Portzline just tweeted this:
Aportzline Aaron Portzline
#CBJ GM Scott Howson, thru spokesman, declines comment on RDS report that #CBJ captain Rick Nash is on trade block.
’Tis the season. Lots of chatter, lots of denials. It will be interesting to see what (if anything) happens with anyone…
My thinking is that is Canadian propaganda in the hopes of stirring up something.
Just once I'd like someone to call me "Sir," without adding, "You're making a scene."
Well now everyone is saying he available, so I believe it. No way it happens until offseason IMO. Too big a move. That is, unless someone blows us away with a deal within the next two weeks.
People overpay at the deadline. The Rangers feel like they have a shot at the Stanley Cup. Adding Nash to that team makes them unbelievably strong.
If they bounce out of the first round of the playoffs, think they’ll still want to give up the farm just to get Nash?
I think it’s now or never, either Nash is moved at this deadline, or he’s in it for the long haul.

So you want Howson to press just so that we can get rid of Nash? Were not giving him away. In offseason, teams wont have to worry about the cap as much and they will have more time to deal with it. In some cases it is worth moving him at the deadline, in some it may be better for offseason. Depends on the team and their cap. Its not like he is a rental, hes still got many years on that deal.
Knowing Howson, he is a patient man. I wouldnt be surprised to see him wait if the deal doesnt come up.
Did I say that?
I specifically pointed out that I think if Nash isn’t traded at the deadline, he won’t be traded at all.
The pieces the team can accumulate at the deadline will determine the direction more than anything. Many around the league still think Howson is out at the end of the off-season, even though they’re seemingly still letting him make major decisions. Who knows how much of a hand Craig Patrick has in this. I think the amount of value Howson can squeeze out of players at this deadline will determine if it’s a short “reload” – think Phoenix, Florida, or Philadelphia a few years back, or an all out rebuild, like the Oilers.

My point was that there is no point in pressing to get a Nash trade done by deadline. If one doesnt get done by deadline there is no shame in waiting until offseason.
So basically what I was saying is that I disagree that if he isnt traded by deadline, he wouldnt be traded at all. Now that he is made available, he isnt just going to be made available for a two week period and then call it quits. If it doesnt work in these two works, do it in offseason. Howson would probably have more bidders in offseason anyway.
The bigger issue with that is Nash ultimately controls his destiny.
The teams he’s approved are rumored to be NYR, Toronto, Philadelphia, LA, and Vancouver. No reason to think that would change in the off-season. The only team that might be in a better position to make a deal this summer would be Toronto, but who knows what they would offer.
