Game 39 Game Thread: Columbus Blue Jackets at San Jose Sharks

Blue Jackets vs. Sharks

The Blue Jackets kick off their first California swing tonight in San Jose against the Sharks. The belief seems to be that Curtis Sanford is going in goal tonight, so his health will of course be a question. It also may help the Jackets' defense, as they seem to be less timid and damaged with The Sandman back there.

Not that it really matters...

This Jackets team needs to figure out how to score goals. They're 0-fer on the Power Play in their last four games. Their PK is an albatross. We've documented the 4-on-4 issues. That leaves 5-on-5. If Columbus wants to compete against a hot Sharks team, they're going to have to score at even strength.

Nikita Nikitin is also back tonight after missing the last game with the flu. Get the No-Doz; this one is a late, late start for us in the east. I can't imagine Mike, what with his moon-man Halifax "Atlantic" Time, will be up watching this one.

I look forward to there being fewer west coast games with the realignment. I don’t know if I can stay awake for this whole thing.

In other NHL news: holy crap Bruins. At the start of the 3rd they were steamrolling the Flames 7-0. Nutso.

And literally as I wrote that it went to 8-0. Crazy performance.

Sweden just won the Junior Worlds against Russia 1-0 in OT. Very well deserved – outshot the Russians 58-17 and finally got the goal. I wish the Jackets could play with that much heart.

Yakupov left overtime with an injury as well.

I always liked Murray. Still dont understand how he can make the Sharks and yet couldnt crack the CBJ lineup 90% of the time. Rediculous

According to my calculations we will need at least a 4 goal lead going in to the third period. Better get going boys

I guess this is the crowd we get here when its 11 o clock and were last in the NHL. Lets hope next year is much, much different. Glad realignment kicks in and we get less of these late games

The look on Boyle’s face when Johansen high sticked him for a second time was just priceless. Kinda like he was thinking “is this rookie for real high sticking ME twice in one game”

They are ok,

but they aint no Jackets!

Seriously though, unbelievable watching them play. Saturday against Vancouver will be a hell of a game.

This game must be boring, the sharks announcers are talking about finding Pepsi in Sweden last year

The Jackets are not good at clearing the zone tonight. Quite a few shifts in a row a seemingly basic clear has failed and resulted in a solid scoring opportunity for the Sharks. Yuck.

Thats why I switched it up and went with the sharks feed, guess there is some perk to being an out of state Jackets fan

Hey there CBJ fans...just stopping in to say beat the Sharks please!

I’m a Wings fan who lives in Athens, OH (sorry, I wasn’t going to switch loyalties just because Columbus got a team). I still root for you guys whenever you aren’t going up against the Winged Wheel.

Gotta crash the net harder on those rebounds

That was an open-net for a Jacket had he been there.

They don’t look like they have played much together as a team. Noone knows where each other is going.
