Former first round pick Nikita Filatov has been traded to the Ottawa Senators for a third round pick, 66th overall. Filatov's value has plummeted in recent seasons, where he has been unable to stick with the Jackets. After being demoted to the AHL, he continued to struggle. A third round pick for Filatov is a decent return for what amounts to a bust pick.

The Jackets traded their own third round pick Thursday in the Jeff Carter trade, so this trade gets them back in the third round.
