More bad news for the Blue Jackets on the injury front: Jeff Carter's right-foot injury is apparently serious enough to merit a few weeks' rest. The club placed him in Injured Reserve this morning. The official word on Carter is that he's "week-to-week" with the stress fracture. The decision was going to come down to: can Carter simply play through the pain, or does the injury--which is a re-injury of the foot he hurt in training camp--just need time to heal properly so as not to affect his entire season?

It appears the answer is the latter. Goalie Mathieu Corbeil takes Carter's roster spot, if only for tonight's game. Corbeil was called up on an emergency basis from his junior club, which means he has to go back in 24 hours. Derick Brassard will presumably take Carter's spot on the top line for the time being.
