Commodore - Langenbrunner Trade?

OK, just saw this on nhl.com (http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=548638)

And I quote: Langenbrunner awaits trade from Devils Thursday, 01.06.2011 / 7:12 PM / News By Dan Rosen  - NHL.com Senior Writer  225Share NEWARK, N.J. -- Devils captain Jamie Langenbrunner was not at Prudential Center Thursday night to take part in New Jersey's 4-2 loss to Philadelphia. He reportedly was waiting at home for a call from GM Lou Lamoriello telling him where and for whom he'd play his next game.

Langenbrunner, who has been with the Devils since March 2002 and their captain for the last six-plus years, told the team's beat writers from The Record and Newark Star-Ledger that he has been in discussion with the team about waiving his no-trade clause so he could be dealt.

He's in the final season of a five-year contract that included a full no-trade clause. He can become an unrestricted free agent on July 1.

"The fact that I'm not there tonight probably means a trade will be happening sooner rather than later," Langenbrunner, the Devils captain since Dec. 5, 2005, said prior to the game, according to the Star-Ledger. "I'm in limbo waiting."

It appears he'll have to wait a little while longer because there was no word from the Devils regarding a trade following Thursday night's loss.

"The only thing I know is before the game Lou (Lamoriello) told me Jamie won't be playing," Devils coach Jacques Lemaire said of the trade rumors. "That's all I know. Then I put another guy on the line."

Langenbrunner reportedly clashed with Lemaire last season, so it's not totally shocking that he's on the block now that Lemaire is back with the Devils. Lamoriello brought Lemaire back on Dec. 23 after firing John MacLean.

The rest of the Devils were not aware of what was going on with their captain.

"I'll know more when you guys do," defenseman Colin White said, referring to the media.

"I haven't heard anything," goalie Johan Hedberg said. "The only thing I know is he wasn't playing (Thursday). We are a team and we're in this together, and we want to get out of it together. But, with ownership and management, no one is happy with the situation so these are the things that usually happen. I have no idea if it's true, but if it is he's a great teammate and I really enjoy having him on my team."

Langenbrunner has 4 goals and 10 assists for 14 points in 31 games this season. He has 385 points in 564 career games with the Devils. Langenbrunner has played in 996 career NHL games and has 232 goals and 388 assists for 620 points.

He won the Stanley Cup with Dallas in 1999 and again with the Devils in 2003. He also owns an Olympic silver medal that he earned as the captain for Team USA last February.

There were rumors Thursday night that the Flyers were going hard after Langenbrunner, but GM Paul Holmgren reportedly gave one of the team's beat writers a "no comment" when he was asked directly about it in the visitors dressing room. End quote. So, could this be why Commie's profile was on the Devils' site? Pure speculation at this point, but my gut tells me this is definitely a step in the right direction if it comes true. Thoughts?
