Nash Named to All Star Roster
Not surprisingly, the Blue Jackets have one representative to the NHL all star game this year, and it will be Rick Nash. This is Nash's 5th all star nomination. He will be available to be 'drafted' by one of the two All Star Game captains - the captains have yet to be named, but it seems likely that it will be Sidney Crosby vs. Jonathan Toews.

If Nash ends up on the same team as Crosby and Ovie, he will never get a shot!

I suppose it depends if Crosby is playing, for that matter. If that concussion lingers, could he still be a captain but not play?
Really, though, I’m sure he’ll find a way to make himself known – he’s had a pretty big impact in all star games lately.

Who do you think the captains will be? If Crosby is a captain that is crap. Needs to be Lidstrom, Iginla/Toews. Should be interesting though.
Just curious, why do you have a problem with the best hockey player in the NHL being a captain?

I would actually like seeing Eric Staal be a captain so the home fans in Carolina will have something more to rally around. I don’t think I’ll mind who the other captain ends up being – there are plenty of great options in the player pool.
I think each Sedin Twin should be a captain, just so they have to play against each other.

Because I believe that a captain should not be determined by skill level. They are all all stars obviously, but I dont think he should be captain becuase he is one of the best players in the World. I feel Iginla shows qualities of leadership that Crosby does not have.yet. Lidstrom is a captains captain. He is the epitome of a leader. Thats why i dont like Nash being captain. I think a captain should show it on the ice, but be vocal in the room as well. Its becoming the idea that the best player on the ice is your captain because he “leads by example”. Thats the reason. If Crosby is captain and the NHL wants to go in the direction of having the best players as captain, do Crosby one captain, Ovechkin the other, and see who wins between the two in a game.
I’ve never heard of Lidstrom being vocal in the room.
As a guy who played/s a lot of team sports, you always listen to the best player on your team. You are pretty quick to tune out a guy if all he does is yell and suck at the sport.
