Game 1 IX) Open Thread: Jackets vs. Thrashers

This is your game thread folks, the game is only on local radio, no TV, so we may have to wait until the scores start coming in to have stuff to talk about. As I mentioned in the preview, I am hoping for a good game out of Oliver Gabriel, and it would be nice to see Dan Fritsche have a good game.

Who do you have your (ears?) on tonight?

3-1 now. Gabriel gets it done again! I’d be shocked if we don’t give him an entry level deal, at this rate.

Oh, dear. Atlanta’s Evander Kane lost his skates and went hard into the boards, got shaken up, and hasn’t return to the game. Hope he’ll be OK.

Looks like he’s back. Good for the Thrash. It’d suck to lose him at this point in the year.

Garon is subbed out, LeNeveu in. Still 3-1 Jackets going to the PP.

4-1! Guenin, maybe? Could have been tipped by Dorsett.

hahaha

I have been complimented many times and they always embarrass me; I always feel that they have not said enough.

DOH. Peddersen gets a bouncing puck off a rebound from LeNeveu. 4-2, 6 minutes to go!

Philadelphia Flyers/Columbus Blue Jackets...don't ask me how.

I gotta admit, if you told me it was going to be a 5-2 game, I would have not expected the Jackets to be on the top side of that, looking lineup to lineup.

Tommy Sestito cleans up the garbage and scores a PP goal! 5-2 Jackets!

Guenin and Blunden with assists – that’s a 3 point night for Sestito and Guenin!

If you’d asked me that in July? I’d probably have said no. But with the way he’s playing right now, I think he’s at least in the conversation for getting a look while Russell is on the shelf.

Good for him. He was never even given a look in Philly.

Anybody know where to get a cheap CBJ RBK Edge jersey?

Aside from eBay? I’d suggest IceJerseys or River City Sports.

There is a lack of CBJ Edge jerseys on eBay. Very disappointing. I’m trying to price a Calvert jersey…

Your Three Stars:

3: Blunden (1G, 1A +2)
2: Guenin (3A, +1)
1: Sestito (1G, 2A, +2)

Late Report

According to Portzline, Fritsche left the game in the third (wasn’t reported on the radio) after getting his “bell rung” – sounds like he’ll get evaluated tomorrow.

And another correction

The opening goal, which had been credited to Wilson from Sigalet and Sestito, is now Sigalet from Sestito and Wilson.

Of Note

Let’s continue to be conservative in the predictions this year. If I recall, there was something about “no goals scored against us” and it was a complete blowout loss.

But at any rate: woooo hockey!
