Mason Signs 2 Year Extension

Per TSN, Steve Mason has signed on the dotted line for a 2 year extension worth an average of $2.9 million.

If Mason can bounce back to his Calder Trophy winning form, it's a bargain - particularly compared to guys like Jonas Hiller ($4.5 million), Ilya Bryzgalov ($4.25), or Ryan Miller ($6.25)

It's pretty clearly a "Prove It" deal, with the expectation that strong performance will lead to larger payday in 2013-2014.

this seems about right to me. We get some time to figure out if he’s legit, and if he’s not we don’t have him around for six more seasons or anything.

I have been complimented many times and they always embarrass me; I always feel that they have not said enough.
