Russell Sprains Knee, out 2-4 Weeks
Per Tom Reed Dispatch (and more than a few CBJ Tweeters), Kris Russell sprained his knee during this morning's Owner's Cup scrimmages. He'll have an MRI later today and is expected to miss 2-4 weeks.
This sucks for Russ, as he's one of the guys who everyone expects to have a great year under Coach Arniel's guidance, but it could be the break that a Grant Clitsome or John Moore needed to make it onto the opening day roster.

The thing to remember, guys, is 2-4 weeks really isn’t that far away. If, for example, he misses three weeks, that puts him back on the ice while the team is in Sweden.
Even if it’s the four week “worst case”, he might be good to go in time for the home opener against the Hawks.

This could open one of 2 windows. Either it allows the Souray trade speculation more likely or it will let John Moore or David Savard show off a little more. Personally I hope its the latter because Souray is carrying a bigger contract than Commie right now, and we can’t have that.
