Puck Daddy looked today at which new coaches are likely to succeed in their first year in the NHL, and it's hard to call their assessment of Arniel encouraging, but I suppose it could be worse: It's hard to image Arniel doing anything that will make them worse than the 32-win, 79-point disaster last season; Steve Mason? Sure, but not Arniel. His style is going to activate some of the offensive talent on this roster, even if the defense is like trying to choose which Rob Schneider comedy to watch on family movie night. Bottom line: He's going to work his ass off, and it's just a matter of whether he's been given the pieces work with. And if Steve Mason can, you know, be Steve Mason again.
