Matt Moulson signs $2.45m 1 year deal - might just help Columbus
New York Islanders forward Matt Moulson signed a 1 year, $2.45 million deal today, avoiding arbitration. While Moulson is a forward, not a defenseman, he is a player in the same age range, who has fluttered between the AHL and NHL before finally playing a full season, and put up a surprising amount of points.
It may help depress the salary expectations a bit from Stralman's camp, who are likely looking for a price closer to Niklas Hjalmarsson's $3.5 million dollar payday.

unless the salary comes back extremely high (like 3 million) I really don’t have a problem keeping stralman around for a year, even at something like 2.5 million.
I have been complimented many times and they always embarrass me; I always feel that they have not said enough.
Anywhere between $2 and $2.5 seems a decent contract to me, but obviously I’m not privy to what they’re discussing in the back rooms.
