Dispatch Reporter Aaron Portzline has reported via Twitter that the Blue Jackets will not be extending qualifying offers to goaltenders Kevin LaLande or Dan LaCosta. LaCosta was something of an open secret, as his departure had been predicted from the signing of Gustaf Wesslau, but LaLande is a surprise. LaLa had taken over the starting job in Syracuse and was expected to be retained to compete for the starters position in Springfield. Hard to say what this means for Springfield, but I do wonder if perhaps one of the CBJ's other goalie prospects (York?) might be ready to make the jump to the pros, or if Howson has another move up his sleeve. Edit: Here's the official report from Puck-Rakers. The Dispatch is suggesting the Jackets will turn to a free agent goalie to back up Wesslau.
