Game 77 Open Thread: Jackets vs. Lightning

Tampa Bay Lightning at Columbus Blue Jackets, Mar 30, 2010 7:00 PM EDT

There are some changes to my lineups in the preview from earlier today- Ryan Malone is out for the Bolts and the Jackets are going with a fourth line consisting of Trevor Frischmon, Michael Blunden and Tomas Kana. As i mentioned before, I am excited to see what Kana can do. He'll be a steal if he can prove to be valuable.

This should be an exciting game- I look for Zenon Konopka to make a statement against Columbus, with Jared Boll out will we see Dors and Konopka go at it?

Kind of a dull game until the third period. I kept waiting for something to happen, thankfully it finally did. A win is a win, I’ll take it.

First two periods were AWFUL. Neither team really established any kind of anything productive. I didn’t want to see Dorse fight because lets face it, he’s a lot smaller than Boller. I never really realized that I’ve seen more fights featuring Derek Dorsett than Mike Commodore. Explain that one to me.

Nasher had TWO chances to score his third goal but he played conservative. How many other players would do that in his situation?

Columbus til I die, Columbus til I die. I know I am, I swear I am, Columbus til I die!

Draft Pick

I realize that it’s nice to see the team trying and playing well… but at what point is this totally fruitless? If we’re “decent” and have currently good players, why not tank for a while and get a better draft pick?

It’s really annoying on both sides of the issue: if we are this good, where was this play all season? Or if we played so poorly, why give it up now and lose out on a chance at a lottery pick? Needless to say, the past bunch of games have been fairly frustrating, getting glimpses at what could have been, all while winning away any shot at a really high-caliber player.

I know what you mean about tanking it but I HATE to see my team lose. Yes, it would be better for us as far as draft picks but I want wins no matter what. In fact, it would do my heart good if we kicked the shit out of the Red Wings all three games. I am well aware that this won’t happen but wouldn’t it be nice? I loved that we knocked the Blackhawks out of first in the West and that they are in a freefall… if only we could keep the Wings from making the playoffs, maybe one day.
