Trade Deadline Thread

Today is trade deadline day, and we'll use this thread to discuss trade rumors and breaking trades. Anything that is Columbus-related will get its own post. I work until 11 ET so if anything happens before that I may not be able to post right away.

Columbus should be active with three impending unrestricted free agents in Raffi Torres, Milan Jurcina and Fredrik Modin. GM Scott Howson could surprise us with other moves as well.

I’m really hoping today proves to be an overall exciting trade deadline, but I do worry about Brass being out of the lineup last night. I realize that the Dispatch has comments from the organization, but that kind of move always makes me think “trade” at this time of year.

I don’t want to see Brass go, so I’m hoping that the injury (which didn’t keep him out of practice or the pre-game warmup…) is really all this turns out to be.

My red flag just went up. I didn’t know he was in the pregame warmups, and still sat out. I want to say if he would be involved in a deal he wouldn’t have even warmed up with the team.

Realistically its probably nothing, but there’s always that little thing in the back of your mind……………………..

if they were going to trade brass it would have to be for somebody awfully good, and in that case i might be excited.

I hate the steelers the way a mother loves a child.

Puck-rackes is reporting that at least 10 teams are interested in raffi, and if ray whitney isn’t going to be moved, howson might be able to fleece someone out of a first rounder.

of course i meant puck-rakers. this is what happens when the first thing you do in the morning is check to see if a trade has gone down.

From Tom Reed at Puck-rakers:

Seidenberg and Matthew Bartkowski to Boston for Craig Weller, Byron Bitz and a second-round pick, according to TSN.The Bruins still have two more second-round picks.

TSN Tracker

Probably the best overall coverage (in my opinion) is from TSN, so go to tsn.ca and then click on the “trade tracker.” Leave that lovely device up on your computer and let the confirmed deals just scroll away.

Also, Carolina dealing with a “Ward” in a trade makes everyone nervous (“oh my, not CAM Ward?”) and is hilarious.

I love the Wolski for Mueller and Porter deal for both teams. Good hockey trade.

THIS is it?

The return for Torres was a 2nd rounder and a guy they waived earlier in the season? Unbelievable.
