Shrapnel - 3/24 Edition

In this edition of Shrapnel: Clitsome's revenge, promotions, last night's action, steroids in hockey, Phoenix near first place, Ovie-Sid part 263, a poll, and more!

Puck-rakers:

It was another, um, off night for the Jackets. Literally nothing looked good in that game. We lost, lost Boller, failed epically on the PP, and the PK. At least Brodeur got his 40th win for a record 8 times. Thats pretty cool, right?

-

BlueJackets XTRA:

Slowly but surely, Grant Clitsome is turning heads. He looked very impressive in his debut, and had a decent game last night. I think he'll stick around for the rest of the season. If Boller is out for the last 9 games, we need another big guy on the ice.

A recap of last night's games. The Sharks haven't won a road game in over a month? Edmonton won a third straight? What is going on in the NHL?

-

BlueJackets.com:

Two promotions coming up for the rest of the week!! Head down to the game tomorrow night against Chicago and get a ticket to the game and a $10 food voucher all for just $35. On Saturday the 27th the Islanders will be in town. Its also Huntington Hat night. The hats, in my opinion aren't as nifty as the all-green ones they gave away last year, but hey a free hat is a free hat.

Yahoo! Sports:

Almost a year ago, The Capitals were a part of the first controversy involving steroids in the NHL. Richard Thomas, the man arrested for possession and intent to distribute steroids, is awaiting sentencing. The Caps have done what they can todistance themselves from a doctor who was recently arrested from buying steroids and other PEDs from Thomas. So far, the police, NHL and team's investigators have not linked any players to using any illegal drugs.

Dear Mr. Howson, all I want for the offseason is Anton Volchenkov.

Chicago beat Phoenix last night 2-0 ending the Coyote's 9-game win streak. Whats so special about this? This. Had Phoenix won, they would be first in the West. Phoenix + win = No. 1 in the conference. Something about that just doesn't sit right with me. When is it our turn to do something awesome like that?

-

TSN:

Its time again for the league's top stars to face off. As far as championships go, Crosby is ahead of Ovechkin 2-0. In the season series, Ovie leads 2-0 over Sid. This should be a great game tonight, as they have been over the last couple seasons. Tune in tonight cheer for former Jacket Jason Chimera!...and kind of former Jacket Milan Jurcina.

Quote of the day:

"We played a little undisciplined at times. We did not have a good night on special teams."

- Claude Noel on the special teams play of the Jackets last night. "A little undisciplined" doesn't begin to explain it, buddy...

Fight of the night:

Boston RW Shawn Thornton v. Atlanta LW Eric Boulton
