Shrapnel - 3/2 Edition

In this edition of Shrapnel: Tonights lineups, winning the gold, trades, some more trades, trades, and um, trades, and more!

BlueJackets XTRA:

Lineups! We've got lineups for tonights game.

Will the Gold around his neck help Nasher take the next step?

Jared Boll has been told to pick his spots, and not just throw down the gloves, just because. Could this mean he'll start focusing more offensively and maybe score a few more by seasons end? Probably not.

Coach Noel has one philosophy - winning. These last games are going to determine whether he becomes a full time coach or not. What would you guys consider a success and would that be enough to keep Noel as coach next season?

Puck-rakers:

Its Trade Deadline Eve. The phones will be hotter than ever today, and everyone's calling. Still tons of interest in Raffi Torres and Milan Jurcina. Time will tell what happens to the Jackets.

Grant Clitsome has been called up from Syracuse. He could be in the lineup tonight. Seems odd that Jurcina is out of the lineup. Either he's being scratched to be moved by tomorrow, or he's still sick. Either way, look for Clitsome to play tonight.

The CBJ has made their first move. Its a minor league deal, but a deal nonetheless.

For those of us on Team Torres, check this out: The team has reportedly offered a 2-year $4 million dollar contract. A small part of me thinks Torres will pass because its not enough. If he wants to stay, which he does, he said he'd be willing to stay for relatively cheap. Thats relatively cheap.

Yahoo! Sports:

The Penguins are playing the role of buyers again, this time acquiring Jordan Leopold from Florida.

The Hawks and Blues have made a deal to swap goalies Fallon and Toivonen.

The Oilers and Preds have also completed a trade.

-

NHL.com:

In the spirit of the trade deadline, the Thrashers and Ducks are keeping it going.

In case you missed something, here's a list of all the trade talks and deals thus far.

Breaking news from Atlanta: Thrashers sign 48 year old D Chris Chelios.

Quote of the day:

"Winning, simple. A fan might say we need to win (this many), a rocket scientist might say, 'No, we need to win this (many).' We need to win them all, and that's what we're trying to do."

- Interim Head Coach Claude Noel. Winning is his business, and business is good.
