The Jackets are doing their part in the fight against cancer. They have partnered with Ohio Health to stage Hockey Fights Cancer Night at Nationwide Arena on October 22nd. Leading up to the game on the 22nd, the Jackets and Ohio Health ask the question: "how do you fight cancer?".
The inititative, known as "I fight cancer", is a contest in which cancer patients, survivors, family members and friends can share their stories. Everyone who shares their story will be entered to win tickets to the Blue Jackets game on Friday, October 22nd against the Calgary Flames. Here's a link to the contest form: CLICK HERE
For more information on this important event, you can check out this message from the Blue Jackets Foundation.
At a special event during one of the intermissions, representatives of all different types of cancer will be coming to the ice wearing their "I fight cancer" t-shirts. The representatives will then come together to form a human ribbon at center ice. When the lights dim, the purple human ribbon, representing the Hockey Fights Cancer official color, will be quite a sight!
There will be other events during the game for those in attendance, including a chance to win tickets for those who submit their picture to Twitter (wearing a pucklace) and other "I fight cancer" merchandise.
