Cannon Sound Off

Ok, enough is enough, I got to put this up so anyone who is a Jackets fan can come on here and vent their frustrations out and talk about our team that has fallen completely out of the picture and back to a familiar spot of bottom of the barrel in the NHL.....talk trades, talk trash, talk what you would want to see happen...anything. This is a post so fans can get together and just vent about our team that seems to have vanished from their sterling start of the season.

I would like to see a little more fight out of this team, and Dorsett to return soon

I don’t know what it is about Mr. Dorsett but when he is in the lineup we play with so much more energy and play better because of it. So I would like if Derek Dorsett would return soon

Players who should be in the Hall of Fame: DIck Lebeau, Pat TIllman, Dwight White, Donnie Shell, L.C. Greenwood, Ray Guy, Steve Tasker, Greg Llyod, Andy Russel, Chris Carter, Kevin Greene and Jerry Kramer
"If you give Arians a fullback, he won’t use one. Instead, he insists on using Matt Spaeth, who probably doesn’t cast a shadow because it would require blocking sunlight." Cliff harris is still a punk with some very true words

I know it has been said before but where is the full 60 minute effort? We outplayed the Preds for about 50 minutes Thursday night. In the final 10 minutes of the game it seemed like we just didn’t have any gas left in the tank. It then seemed like we just decided that we’d rather not try to win in OT and just force a shootout. This is not the way we used to play but it is a very familiar pattern this season. I don’t know what made me think this but after we locked Nash up to a long term deal I thought we would try to sign another goal scorer. I’m not ready to mail it in yet but I’m getting close.

I think Howson needs to make more of a splash and bring some talent into Columbus….sorry to say this but we need offense. Our defense has been lackluster and goaltending has taken some losses in the morale department. This is a time he needs to be aggressive and not passive, losing on the scale that we have since starting off so well has shown the Columbus has some of the right pieces but is still lacking the skill necessary to really make this club great.

Any thoughts on possible trades or moves that we might make in the near future? Suggestions on who should go or stay?

Get a puck-moving defensemen

something that has been said upteen times

cough Filatov cough

But seriously, I think a real problem in this theory on offense is Hitch. His style is defense-first. Sadly, as evidenced by the Devils, this doesn’t always work out. Their top successes have happened when the offense is also clicking.

Maybe if we got some really good offensive talent, Hitch would change gears. Unfortunately, his treatment with Filatov doesn’t speak very highly of a offense-oriented attitude, even on the power play.

To add to what Piratesfan mentioned about a puck-moving defenseman, which yeah we have all dreamed that dream of a Gonchar-esqe d-man in the CBJ. Dan Boyle is a free-agent next season, we have plenty of cap space and San Jose is just loaded with talent but would we be willing to give up someone like Filatov for Boyle to come to Columbus?
Steve Mason will mold into the goaltender we know he can be, have faith in that. (Columbus is behind you, Steve) Mase is still so young and so so so so so talented…don’t let stats fool you, this is a tough season that has taken too many turns for the worse for our Jackets. Too little victories coupled with extensive losses (not to mention lack of offense, as well) really takes all the wind out of a club.
Thoughts on the future of Ken Hitchcock in Columbus if the wins can start to amount? Maybe next season?

If Boyle is a free agent, then lets go get him! There’s a TON of cap space. Why not use it?

LOUD NOISES

Thats a little better. Now seriously…

I’ve seen the effort, but the Colorado game was just shit. They played their hearts out and got jack for it. WTF. I say we just go Slap Shot on everyone else and knock out anything and everything that moved. I don’t give a damn about repercussion.

A great coach once said…

Screw ’em.

Its time to start playing rough. If a team wants to play that game (talking to you, Colorado, Detroit, Nashville, St. Louis, DALLAS, EDMONTON, CALGARY) then we’ll play it harder. I’m tired of watching this team get pushed around. TIRED OF IT. LETS GO HITCH, GET THIS TEAM WINNING AGAIN!

We’re not giving up on you, Jackets, we’re just as pissed off as you SHOULD be.

I agree

Where is the fight in this team? Even in the years when we really smelled up the ice teams didn’t want to play us because of how physical we were. The thing about this team is the we will be physical one night and not so much the next few nights. I love my Jackets and nothing will ever change that but I’m tired of the losing. STOP THE BLEEDING!!!
