What is Chicago doing?

I'm sure we have all noticed the Blackhawks spending money like crazy this offseason (Dave Bolland, Marian Hossa, John Madden, Kris Versteeg, Tomas Kopecky and Cam Barker). By most accounts they are done.

But have they left any money for next year? They seem to be in a precarious position for next season when they need to lock-up Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews with big raises, presumably keep Duncan Keith and even possibly Andrew Ladd and sign a backup goalie.

They don't have any significant contracts expiring and the cap is expected to be lower than this year's. How do they get it done? Who do they move?

They will probably want to keep Kane, and Toews more than anyone.

Ya don't say

Of course they will want to keep Kane and Toews. That is what I said. But how do they do it? That was my question. Next year they will likely have to double-triple both of their salaries. Who do they trade or let go?

They will be fine this year, probably win the division. But the money for next year has to come from somewhere..

I guess what was implied (fail) was that they will probably move anyone necessary to clear up the cap space for them. Perhaps not resign Keith, and spend as little as possible on a backup G.

Also

I think its obvious they are trying to make a run at the division title. Any else see it this way? and, does anyone think they can dethrone Detroit?

Tallon's made a big mess

I can tell you one player they won’t be able to trade… no one will take Hossa with that kind of contract.

I’m not sure… the length sucks (Hossa will probably retire in year 8 or 9), but his cap hit is 5.2 million. Nash’s cap hit in 7.8 million. They both scored 40 goals this season.

I think they’ll want to move Huet if anyone. Campbell is overpaid but still contributes. Huet is overpaid and they’d rather have him sit on the bench.

Cheaters!

Or if they cheat, they can keep signing people into their 40s
