What would you like to see at The Cannon?

Bluejackets-lg_medium

First off, I'd like to thank the CBJ fans who have contributed to the blog thus far, both in the Fanposts and Polls, not to mention the comment sections of our blog posts. The regulars I have noticed thus far are users Dan J, CBJMarty, tricolore, PhillyPhan85, GatorOH and Blazer_Fan_199. Keep up the good work guys and thanks for being a part of The Cannon!

I'd also like to thank Andy and Clint for being great guys to work with on the blog, we all bring a different element, and our main goal is to keep things fresh. The summer can be a dreadfully boring time in the hockey world, so we'll do our best to give Jackets fans a reason to keep checking out the Cannon for news and original content.

That said, what would you the Jacket fan like to see incorporated into the blog? SBNation is a powerful tool, and we have the ability to do so much with this blog. We have sections (a la the depth chart and prospect list), along with the ability to post polls, videos, you name it. Is there something you'd like to see that we haven't done yet? Maybe more of something we have done but not in a while? (some sort of competition, similar to the playoff prediction contest that Clint ran maybe)

I'd really like to hear your feedback, we want this to be the best CBJ blog out there, so your input is very important to us!

Hit the comments guys!

Mike

Can't think of much

You guys do a great job here. I bounce between you and puck-rakers daily so I get my jackets needs everyday. Maybe a season preview of some great matchups on the schedule? Only thing I can think of. Nice work boys.

Ryan

p.s.- Just because I don’t post on here all the time doesn’t mean I don’t look at it as much as your regulars. :) all fun and games.

More in-depth coverage

Being originally from Michigan, I am a die-hard Wings fan. I finally got a chance to see my first NHL game back on Feb 13 when the CBJ beat the Wings 3-2. In that one night, my interest in the Blue Jackets went from casual and passing to reading as much as I could to learn about the team and listening to Hitch whenever he was on the Big Show with Spielman and Hooley and on Wednesdays with Rimmer on the Coach’s Show.

Yes, I’m from Michigan and I live in Cbus and am tortured by all of the Scarlet and Gray everywhere, but that’s for a different discussion :)

As for the Cannon, I’d like to see alot more in-depth coverage on the players themselves, draft picks. The main 2 SB hockey blogs I read are this one and the Wings one (Winging it in Motown). The wings blog, for example, had an article with video clips of the Wings top 3 picks (Ferraro, Tatar, Nestrasil). Each pick had at least an article. With that type of coverage, I am able to see how the Wings are drafting for their future and what I might see on the ice in 3-4 yrs.

I can only name one player that the CBJ drafted…Moore.

Thoughts, ideas, comments...

Maybe preview the full season series’ with our division opponents, other Western conference matchups and some Eastern conference matchups as well…throw in some key players to watch for both sides, predicitions on win/loss records etc.

How about doing something like taking a look at the line combinations and what we might see as far as who would be playing with who? I’m sure most of it is already known but it couldn’t hurt to look at other possibilities. I see other blogs that do position battles, they take everyone on the roster who play each position and talk about who will be a starter and who will end up being a backup. This would be really valuable in regards to the 3rd/4th lines because those combinations are still up in the air.

I think we should also take a more in depth look at Syracuse and its roster. Let’s talk about who is probably going to see some time in the ’Bus this year. It would be nice to be more acquainted to the youngsters in our organization.

I think you guys do a great job here and I love checking in to see what you have next. Things definitely get boring over the long summer and I think game previews are a great way to pass the time and give even the casual fan something to look forward to.

not sure...

The one major difference I see is that with some of the other teams, most likely because they are older and more established teams, have more contributors and fans talking and bringing in new news….I don’t see this as a Cannon problem, more of a Jackets are still developing into a team of interest for people/fans. It is the offseason. Jackets have kept quiet for the most part, which maybe will be beneficial when the season gets underway. + Sure when the season does get underway, there will be more and more content available to add to the site.

Other then that, I think ‘The Cannon’ has developed well and will continue to provide updates and other useful tools for the fans and bloggers that come to the site daily. I’d say, Keep up the Good Work!

How about down farm?

Being a White Sox fan, one thing I enjoy about their site is the:
Adopt-a-Prospect, where members adopt, profile, and feature one of the White Sox minor leaguers, in order to provide intimate details on the players.

How about doing the same thing with all the Blue Jackets prospects? Maybe one a week, or every other week, each member has a brief update on their prospect.

For the White Sox board it has been nice getting these updates on players we wouldn’t otherwise know anything about.

I would definitely be willing to adopt a Blue Jacket prospect in the minors and even a second that will be in Juniors or Europe.

I like this idea. The only drawback is that minor league, college and junior hockey aren’t as easily accessible as minor league baseball. The stats and news come out infrequently, and often in non0user-friendly form. If someone can find a way to make it work, though, I’m all for it!

Agree

but a great idea nonetheless! Rec for Walleyes

Keep up the good work!!

I love the Cannon, you guys are doing a great job, and checking the cannon is part of my daily routine. I would love to see more on Hitch and the coaching staff. Hitch is such a unique character, and a great coach. I agree with Rodney I would like to see more about our draft picks, as well as our roster lineups and possible line up changes.
