Shrapnel - 12/31 Edition

A win tonight will really be a step in the right direction to getting this thing back on track. Lets finish off 2009 in style!

And away we go!

Star-divide

From Yahoo! Sports:

With all the end-of-decade lists coming out, this one is probably the most tear-jerking of them all. #6 R.I.P., Ryan!

A pretty rare feat happened in San Jose last night. The Sharks converted on two penalty shots to beat the Washington Capitals 5-2. Jason Chimera already has his first point for the Caps, assisting on a goal.

If anyone is still interested...Mathieu Schneider has been placed on waivers by the Canucks.

Puck-rakers:

Michael Blunden has been placed on waivers. We will know around noon today whether he was claimed by another team or not.

IT STARTS NOW. Second half of the season is underway and lets get it rolling against Nashville! Also, injury updates from some of the guys.

BlueJackets Xtra:

Transcript from yesterday's Blue Jackets chat.

Probable lines for tonight:

CBJ

Nashville

Alexandre Picard is making moves, and Hitch shows his comedic side.

NHL.com:

State of the division as of 12/28.

Countries are starting to announce their Olympic rosters.

Canada featuring our own Rick Nash

Latvia

Finland

Slovakia featuring Milan Jurcina

Sweden featuring Fredrik Modin, and Samuel Pahlsson

Norway

Russia featuring Fedor Tyutin

Germany

Czech Republic featuring Jan Hejda

The USA roster will be announced tomorrow during the Winter Classic!

Regardless of whatever country you are cheering for, always, ALWAYS cheer on our guys!

Lets Go Jackets!!!

Lame

Mason gets a shutout and backstops the team to overtime, albeit an overtime loss, and then gets a day of rest and Garon is still in net? Honestly thats kind of lame, you gotta reward good play and giving up one goal in 2 games of back to backs is pretty dang good!

I'll be honest

Hitch deserves a little credit for sticking to his word. Win and you’re in. Simple as that.

Yeah Mase has been looking like his old self lately but he’s gotta put the net on lockdown. He looked great in the shootout, coming out as far as he did. He’s been taking notes from Garon. The shootout wins will come.

Columbus til I die, Columbus til I die. I know I am, I swear I am, Columbus til I die!

Are we using this as the game thread?

That was a very awesome period. We got the puck deep, followed in and won the battles, even got some decent cycling in. Better yet – our mistakes were not very big, and our defense looked good.

I hope this stays for the next 40 minutes.
