Todays Practice

Coach Hitchcock led the team through a brisk, short practice that lasted all of 45 minutes today. Hitch stressed speed, quick passing and getting to open spaces. He brought the group together a couple of times when he wasn't pleased with events on the ice. He could be heard clearly in the stands as he kept yelling in a loud tone, "Move your feet."

The injured veterans remained absent from practice as the same 30 players participated. The line combinations were the same as yesterday.

Tomorrow is the last preseason home game so it will be interesting to see the lineup and if some of these lines will get a good look, especially the Nash-Beech-Vyborny line.

Just curious... what is your opinion on Sestito in practice? In the games I've seen I don't see an eye opening qualities... but I haven't been to practices.

He is a big kid and plays a very physical game. He scored 42 goals last season for Plymouth in the OHL of which 21 were on the power play. Seeing those stats, without seeing him play in person, I would imagine many of his goals came from dominating around the net with his size. Most of the practices have focused on skating, transition from zone to zone and moving the puck quickly. I think those are the things he needs to work on. He has an NHL body and with his finishing ability he could be an asset in front/around the net, especially on the power play.

Exactly right LJ. Sestito is a force around the net, he uses his size very well and I can see him being fourth line NHL material.

He would be valuable in terms of special teams because on the PP he can park in front of the net, and on the PK he can use his size to shut down opposition forwards.
